Semtech Expands Buck Regulator Platform with Digitally Controlled, High Efficiency 5Vin, Dual Buck Regulator for Industrial, Networking Systems
The SC284P offers a tiny overall solution size along with high efficiency and ease of use
Camarillo, California - November 12, 2014
Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced the SC284P, the smallest, dual independent 2A buck regulator with automatic power-save mode.
The SC284P has an impressive array of features that include seven digitally selectable preset output voltages (set independently, per channel), a power good signal, an internal 1.7ms soft-start and 100 percent duty cycle capability. The part greatly simplifies the implementation of power trees for industrial, networking and consumer electronics platforms due to its high 94 percent peak efficiency and small total board size.
“The compact 3x3mm package combined with pin selectable VOUTs, 2.5MHz switching frequency and a guaranteed maximum current limit to minimize inductor size provide the smallest possible overall solution size for a dual 2A regulator,” said Alan Burchfield, Product Marketing Director for Power Management Group. “The automatic power save adds a welcome boost in light-load efficiency versus competing devices that do not offer this feature, achieving greater than 70% efficiency down to 1mA loads.”
