Semtech Wireless Charging Solution Embedded Inside Computers from Tier 1 Manufacturers

Recently announced TS80K tri-mode chipset featured in latest line of computers for business

Camarillo, California - October 16, 2015

Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced its TS80K wireless charging platform has been adopted in next generation computers for business. Semtech’s tri-mode wireless charging technology is integrated in these latest computers to provide wireless charging for mobile and wearable devices in today’s modern workspaces.

As previously announced, Semtech’s TS80K is the industry’s first tri-mode wireless charging platform to support all three major wireless charging standards, QiPMA and A4WP Rezence, in multi-mode for both transmitter and receiver applications. In addition to supporting existing standards, the platform can also be quickly adapted to support future wireless charging standards as they evolve. The TS80K, which includes the TS80000 transmitter, the TS81000 receiver, as well as a complete set of power management ICs, also scales to offer low, medium and high power options for a wide range of application needs.

“Our ability to deliver flexible wireless charging ICs that embed in devices of all shapes and sizes and support all three industry standards offers our partners unprecedented customizability and cutting-edge technological capabilities,” said Ken Moore, Vice President and General Manager of Semtech’s Triune Product Group. “We’re excited to see our technology making its way into computers from Tier 1 manufacturers.”

Key Features:

  • Flexibility: The TS80K wireless charging platform supports all major wireless charging standards in multi-mode (for both transmitter and receiver applications), works in multiple configurations and form factors, and can quickly be adapted to support evolving wireless charging standards
  • Scalable Power: The TS80K platform is the only product on the market that supports a wide range of power solutions ranging from 100mW low power wearable solutions to 100W high power solutions for industrial tools, medical equipment and “connected” furniture applications
  • Fast Charging Solution: Multi-mode receiver solutions ranging from 100mW to >20W of output power allows compatibility between all transmitters supporting any of the three industry standards
  • Advanced Ecosystem Charging Solution: Multi-mode transmitter solutions available for all power levels, from 100mW to >40W, allowing embedded charging capability in furniture, vehicles and public venues that can support all three standards based on a single, easy to use, cost effective platform
