Dr. Hong Q. Hou
President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Hou has served as president and chief executive officer of the Company since June 2024 and as a member of the Semtech Board of Directors since July 2023. Dr. Hou is an accomplished multinational technology executive, recognized as a global enterprise leader with a strong technical and business transformation record in dynamic ultra-competitive markets.
Dr. Hou most recently served as president of the Semiconductor Group at Brooks Automation, a leading provider of automated wafer handling and contamination control solutions for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. In this position, Dr. Hou made great contributions in improving customer satisfaction, growing business through early design wins and disciplined innovations, and global operations excellence, all while operating in a leveraged buyout environment.
Prior to that, Dr. Hou was corporate vice president and general manager of the cloud and edge networking group of Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC), with full P&L responsibility for a group delivering leadership hardware, software, and system products and technology, including Ethernet NICs and controllers, infrastructure processor units, Ethernet switches, and high-performance fabrics. In addition, Dr. Hou’s group emerged as a leading silicon photonics provider for hyperscale data centers.
Prior to that, Dr. Hou was executive vice president, chief technical officer of Fabrinet (NYSE:FN), and general manager of Fabrinet West. Fabrinet specializes in precision optical, electro- optical, PCBA and electro-mechanical processes, in a high-mix, any-volume environment.
As CTO and general manager of Fabrinet West, Dr. Hou led the establishment of advanced optical packaging capabilities serving markets such as LIDAR, 3D sensing, VR and AR, and medical devices, and excelled in a highly cost-conscious organization.
In addition, Dr. Hou held executive leadership positions at AXT, Inc. (Nasdaq: AXTI) as its chief operating officer and EMCORE Corporation (Nasdaq: EMKR) as its president and chief executive officer, as well as serving on its board of directors.
Dr. Hou holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at San Diego and also has completed executive management courses at Stanford Business School.
