AVP1000
Bringing the disruptive power of Ethernet to traditional AV signal distribution, the BlueRiver ASIC chipset delivers a single programmable system on chip (SoC), which can be used to replace traditional AV/KVM extenders, matrix switchers, video wall controllers, and windowing processors, with a simple network of transmitters, receivers and off the shelf Ethernet switches.
The BlueRiver AVP1000 provides the most cost effective solution for switching and extension of audio, video and control signals over standard Ethernet networks.
- 4K60 4:4:4 with uncompressed image quality
- Multi-channel audio, Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232, USB and IR
- Zero latency extension and switching
- Independent switching for all signal types
- Support for fiber and category cabling
- Power over Ethernet (PoE) compatible
All BlueRiver series chipsets are not only interoperable with each other, but also interoperable with the installed base of SDVoE™ products. Sharing a common SDVoE API which intelligently enables features based on endpoint capability, the AVP2000 or AVP2000T can extend the capability of the AVP1000. For example, an AVP1000 transmitter, which does not support scaling, may send its signal to an AVP2000 receiver, which can display the AVP1000 video signal with scaling, seamless switching or as a video wall.
From device discovery to runtime control, the SDVoE API makes it simple to rapidly develop and deploy products of any complexity by providing the interface for easy setup, control and monitoring of the device capabilities such as routing, scaling, video wall processing, image compositing, down-mixing and much more. The API provides interoperability between SDVoE products from a broad range of manufacturers.
With a dedicated 1GbE interface combined with an integrated 10G to 1G switch, each BlueRiver enabled endpoint can provide a 1G data port, enabling true data networking within the AV network. This capability eliminates the need for redundant equipment and cabling for locations where the AV and data network overlap.

Since the successful launch of the BlueRiver ASIC for Pro AV in December 2019, Semtech has continued to add new features and functionality to both the ASIC firmware and the Software Defined Video over Ethernet (SDVoE™) API that’s at the heart of all SDVoE-based systems. This has culminated with the firmware version 2.0 release in February 2023, which enables the full potential of the platform. So, what’s Pro AV 2.0 and what does that mean with respect to Semtech’s Pro AV ASIC product lines?
Unleash the Full Features and Power of BlueRiver…
READ NOWIn this fifth and final installment of the BlueRiver applications blog series, we’ll look at how two Semtech products lines – Semtech’s BlueRiver® ASIC platform for Pro AV and SDVoE™, and broadcast Serial Digital Interface (SDI) – can enable a unique set of “SDI-over-IP” products and applications.
BlueRiver® Applications Part 5: BlueRiver &…
READ NOWThroughout this blog series, we’ve looked at how Semtech’s BlueRiver® ASIC platform enables a broad range of Pro AV applications, and as the core chip technology that powers Software Defined Video over Ethernet (SDVoE™), is accelerating the adoption of AV-over-IP in the professional AV industry. (Read Parts 1, 2 and 3.) In part four of the BlueRiver applications for Pro AV blog series, we’re going to continue the theme around the lower power and reduced footprint of the BlueRiver ASIC solution, which makes it ideal for integration directly into end equipment, HDMI wall plates and Smart Display Modules, while also reducing equipment costs and the environmental footprint of the final AV system.
BlueRiver® Applications Part 4: End-product…
READ NOWIn the first two parts of this blog series, we’ve looked at how Semtech’s BlueRiver® platform, the core technology that powers Software Defined Video over Ethernet (SDVoE™), can replace the traditional matrix switch for AV distribution, and with fully integrated USB connectivity, BlueRiver supports more advanced KVM switching applications, typically deployed in control centers and for remote desktop applications. In part three of the BlueRiver applications for Pro AV blog series, we’re going to explore how the powerful integrated image processing engine in the BlueRiver ASIC can enable cost effective video wall and multiviewer applications, removing the need for costly dedicated equipment, while still delivering a high performance, low latency IP-based AV distribution system.
BlueRiver® Applications Part 3: Video Walls &…
READ NOWThe BlueRiver® platform is Semtech’s award winning technology for AV-over-IP, which is one of the fastest growing segments in the Professional AV signal distribution market. As the core technology that powers Software Defined Video over Ethernet (SDVoE™), BlueRiver has been demonstrated to be the only AV-over-IP technology that can provide matrix switch-like performance, delivering pristine 4K resolution video with imperceptible latency, along with multichannel audio and control signals, such as USB, Infrared and Consumer Electronic Control, all over standard 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks using a common control Application Programming Interface (API).
For this second installment in the BlueRiver applications for Pro AV blog series, we’ll take a look at how SDVoE enables the most cost efficient and feature-rich AV-over-IP systems for applications typically using the traditional matrix switch topology.
Replacing the Matrix Switch in BlueRiver®…
READ NOWSince its official launch in early 2020, the BlueRiver® ASIC has been the bedrock of all new product developments for Software Defined Video over Ethernet (SDVoE™). From standalone encoders and decoders, to HDMI wall plates, the ASIC has provided a lower power and cost effective platform from which our customers can expand their product portfolios. READ NOWWhen the COVID-19 pandemic struck in early 2020, there was a general feeling that it would all be over in six months. Few expected the global shutdown of live events and professional sports. Concert tours were postponed and sports arenas stood empty as the effects of the pandemic rolled on into the year. I had bought tickets to see the My Chemical Romance reunion tour in September 2020, for my son Max’s 18th birthday. But of course, it’s been postponed (twice) and it looks like I’ll be taking him for his 20th birthday instead! Pro sports are starting to open up in many countries, and people like me are itching to go to concerts to see our favorite bands, comedians and theater productions, and be immersed in the collective cheers and applause of the audience again. In the immortal words of the late, great Freddie Mercury, “the show must go on!”
The Roar of the Crowd: BlueRiver for Stadiums
READ NOWSince starting out my career working at Dolby Laboratories in the early to mid-90s, I’ve often been referred to as “the audio guy.” However, I’ve actually spent the majority of my career working with video technologies, initially with the Serial Digital Interface (SDI), and more recently, with Software Defined Video over Ethernet (SDVoE™) which is powered by Semtech’s award-winning BlueRiver® technology for Pro AV. Still, I have a soft spot for all things audio and make a point of highlighting the audio features of my product lines, as some of these often get overlooked.
